Children's Mental Health Week. February 7-13 2022
Gillian Stewart, Tuesday, February 08, 2022

As we enter children's mental health week, it is now more than ever that we need to look out for our children. We need to help and support their emotional and mental wellbeing.

Children are unbelievably accepting but this also makes them very vulnerable. They need family and friends around them to provide a safe and secure environment.

Books are a wonderful way of helping children to understand the world around them. Books also help them to understand their emotions and the thoughts and feelings they may have.

There are so many excellent books to share. Here are a few of my favourites:

The Very Cranky Bear by Nick Bland

Taking a Bath with the Dog by Scott Menchin

The Worrysaurus by Chris Chatterton

Little Owl, Little Owl Can't You Sleep by Jo Lodge

We can help by...

Making children feel loved and protected.

Encouraging them to be kind to themselves and others.

Encouraging them to share their feelings and ask for help when they need it.

Praising our children so they feel good about themselves.

We must encourage children to grow and be proud of themselves.
