It is very easy to forget just how important play is to children.

Playing should be fun. Children learn as they play, so toys should not be a luxury but a necessity.

Although children don’t need too many toys, they do play a vital role in a child’s learning and so a good selection of age appropriate toys are very important.

Toys need not be expensive. Sometimes the best toys come from imaginative use of everyday items....empty boxes, Tupperware containers, safe small plastic kitchen utensils,  small empty plastic bottles filled with dried pasta/glitter/coloured water/sand - securely sealed.

Babies from a very young age need toys and books for stimulative wake times. They will enjoy the different colours, shapes and sounds.

A dressing up box is one of the most magical things for a child. Fill it full of old clean hats, shoes, clothes, jewellery, scarves etc and let your child’s imagination take over.

Play allows creativity, so always find time each day for your children to play.
